Transferring Photos and Music to iPhone 4S

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 7:16 AM 0 comments
I finally got my iPhone 4S, definitely way faster than my old iPhone. I got 64Gb so I can transfer all my musics, videos, and all my pictures.

This article will help you transfer your pictures and musics to your new iPhone device. Here's how to.

  1. First of all, let's backup your pictures. You can simply open a windows explorer, drag all your pictures to your C: drive. You can create a new folder if you want to organize your pictures backup. For Mac users, create a new folder to your "Documents", then drag and drop. For this example, let's use a new folder "BACKUP PICTURES" to copy your pictures from your apple device e.g. iPhone or iPod
  2. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes application. If you don't, please update this application before you proceed. It is highly recommended.
  3. After the backup, connect your apple device.
  4. Open your iTunes application, it will automatically recognize your device under DEVICES. Click on it.
  5. Select the Photos tab, put check on Sync Photos from:, select "Choose Folder". This is where you point your BACKUP PICTURES folder created in the beginning of this article.
  6. Apply changes and click Sync
  7. Check if your pictures are successfully transferred to your device.
For your music transfer, here's how to.
  1. Drag and drop your music album folder to your Music iTunes folder. In the latest version of iTunes, go to iTunes, iTunes Media, then Music folder. The Music folder holds all your music collections.
  2. In iTunes application, Library, click Music. This will show your music collections. If you just transferred some musics from step1. In iTunes application, click File, then Library to update your music collections.
  3. Go back to Library, Music, to see your updated library.
  4. In DEVICES, click your device e.g. iPhone or iPod. Click the Music tab, put check in Sync Music, check the Playlist and Artists, click Apply, click Sync.
  5. Now enjoy your music
Hope this help you. Please don't hesitate to post a follow questions.
Thank you.

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 5:30 AM 0 comments
Got your new BlackBerry BOLD smart phone and got this error when try to use the e-mail.

"This BlackBerry device is not registered with your wireless service provider."

Please register this device and verify that the URL of the current website matches the one provided by your wireless service provider.

 To register
  1. In the Application list on your device, click Options, or click Settings Options.
  2. Click Advanced Options > Host Routing.
  3. Click the Meny key and click Register Now.
It took a while for me to find this setting using a BlackBerry Bold. Why they keep changing the location of the setting, maybe for the better.

Here's how to register a BlackBerry Bold.
In your BlackBerry smartphone:
Go to Setup, Options, Device, Advanced System Settings, Host Routing Table, then press the BlackBerry icon, select Register Now.

Gmail Security - Two factor authentication

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 7:00 AM 0 comments
The Gmail provides excellent tools for anti-spam and anti-viruses. The username and password authentication is great, but you can make this more secure using two factor authentication or 2 step verification.

Here's how to activate the 2-Step Verification using your Gmail or Google Apps email.

  • Login to your email at Gmail.com
  • In the upper right-corner of your browser, click on your email address, then click Account Settings.
  • Under Security, click on "Using 2-Step verification" to generate the codes.
  • For this example, I will use my iPhone, (also available for Android and BlackBerry). So in Mobile Application, click on iPhone. The next page will provide information on how to download the Google Authenticator for iPhone, done that and I am ready to go.
  • Using my iPhone Google Authenticator, click the (+) sign to add, click the Scan Barcode, and scan the code in your Gmail account.
  • In the iPhone Google Authenticator, you will see a 6-digits number to be use to verify your account. You have 60 seconds to key-in these numbers to your Gmail for verification. If successful, the email system will force you to re-login using your username, password, and now with the 6-digits number (2-step verification).
This complete your 2-step verification. Every time you log-in to your gmail account, you will enter your username, password, and 6-digits pin. The 6-digits number changes every 60 seconds.
Now you improve your authentication (email access security) accessing your Gmail through a web browser.

How about your iPhone Gmail access? You don't need to enter the username, password, and 6-digits number in your iPhone every time you access your email through iPhone. Here's how to simplify this process.

Configure you iPhone after the 2-step verification.
  1. While still log-in to your email account. Click on your email address (upper right-corner of the screen), then Account Settings.
  2. Click on 2-step verification.
  3. In Application-specific passwords, click "manage application-specific passwords"
  4. In Step 1 of 2 generate a new application-specific password, create a name. For example, I will call this "iPhone 4S", then click on Generate Password
  5. In Step 2 of 2 enter the generated application-specific password to your Gmail setup as password. Not the password and 6-digits number. Ex. ifxf wert asdx afas (spaces don't matter).
  6. In the iPhone, let's setup your email. Go to Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then Add Account.
  7. Select Gmail, enter your Name, Address, Password (use the generated application-specific password produced in step no.5), and Description. Click Next to continue.
  8. If successful, you will see Mail, Calendars, and Notes set to ON. Click Save to continue to add the account.
Now check your email, test send/receive to make sure.

I will also write a HOWTO guide on how to re-configure your Google Authenticator if you purchase a new iPhone phone. It will be available within this week.

Thank you.

Updating to iOS 5.0

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 12:08 AM 0 comments
I'm so excited today hoping to received my iPhone 4S. That excitement shoot down when I find out that Best Buy doesn't have my preordered iPhone 4S 64GB Black model on time.

Instead, I decided to upgrade my iPad to the latest released of iOS 5.0.

My current iOS version is 4.3.1, so I have to upgrade first to 4.3.5, then run the Update.

Upgrading iOS from 4.3.1 to 4.3.5 took a while, more than one hour from running the backup of my entire iPad contents e.g. pictures, video, and apps.

The iOS 5.0 requires iTunes 10.5, so I have to download and install it. It takes 10-15 minutes to updates. And another 30-45 minutes downloading files, depending on your internet speed.

I restarted my MacBook Pro as required by the program, then enjoy iOS 5.0 on my iPad.

Next, my iPhone 3GS upgrading for iOS 5.0.

Update:
My iPhone 3GS is now upgraded to iOS 5.0. One nice feature of iOS 5.0, I can run "Software Update" directly from my iPhone. This feature remove the dependency to my MacBook Pro for next software update.

And, I can use the "iTunes Wi-Fi Sync" to automatically sync with iTunes on my computer when my iPhone is plugged in to power and connected to WiFi. I see there is room for improvement, hopefully with their next release of software update. I can simply sync to my iTunes through Wi-Fi or directly through 4G network. Let's wait and see, only time will tell.

WP Super Cache

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 1:22 AM 0 comments
If you're running a blog using a content management system Wordpress, it is recommended to use the plug-in WP Super Cache.

According to the description:
"This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts." (2011, Wordpress.org)

With this plug-in, it will reduce the loading time of your website by 20-50% faster.

Knowing the advantages, now let's find out the disadvantages. Well I'm running a e-commerce websites, for example www.breeder.co, www.talked.com, www.headcam.com, etc. My e-commerce websites were designed to randomly display the products in the main page, so we can showcase all products that we have in store. The website load faster but since it was converted to static html, the random display of products become static too. So I decided not to use the WP Super Cache plug-in in our e-commerce websites.

I hope this help.

Apple released iPhone 4S, not iPhone 5

Posted by Support @ KING.NET On 3:56 PM 0 comments
Apple comes short with their announcement today. I'm expecting a new iPhone product called iPhone 5, instead they announce iPhone 4S. It is like giving you a half bake product, same physical design, though comes with powerful processor dual-core A5, 8 megapixel camera, 1080p video recording at 30fps. Engadget.com provides a comparison between iPhone 4S VS iPhone4, and TechCrunch.com post here. Check it out.

As consumer, I still prefer to have an iPhone 4S than anything else. Maybe it's time for me to check the Galaxy II smart phone again. What do you think?
